Found in large facilities such as hallways, hospitals, offices and schools, VCT flooring or vinyl composite tile is very different in configuration and looks from other types of floors. VCT is among the best these days and the reason is its easy and durable surface. In fact, this flooring is unquestionably the most cost-effective if cared for properly.

One of the primary activities to keep the floor looking new is waxing.

An Overview:
Waxing plays a very important part in VCT maintenance. The procedure involves several steps beginning with the removal of existing polish from the floor and application of a new coat. Normally, the existing wax is stripped using floor machines at low speed, and for places that have high wax accumulation, the process is required to be repeated several times. Once done, a solution is used to clean the whole floor to make sure old wax does not dry on the surface again. This is a labor intensive job.
Once the floor is completely dry and free of the old wax, a new coat is applied. VCT cleaning experts apply the new finish in layers, depending on the grade of shine the customer asks for and the finish being used (normally 5-6 coats offer medium shine). Once the coating has been completed, the floor is all set to be walked on. However, before any further procedures, such as- high speed buffing or polishing, it’s best to leave the VCT flooring on rest for at least 2 days.

Performing VCT waxing is time consuming and somehow expensive and requires professional assistance. It is therefore recommended to sign a contract with a professional agency offering VCT maintenance. Such efforts will not only prolong the life of the floor but will also help save money in the long run along with offering the floors shine and gleam.
